About

Jacky's practice encompasses a range of metal techniques and processes, allowing her to create a diverse range of works, from small hand-held objects to large-scale architectural pieces, for exhibitions, commissions, and residencies. Teaching and leading workshops have also been key elements of her practice.

Approaching each project in a process-led manner, Jacky begins with thorough research and a thoughtful interpretation of the subject matter. She then selects the appropriate technique, materials, and scale to create a highly-crafted final outcome. Her work is often informed by archives, museums, and the local community, building up a multilayered sense of a place or event.

Jacky has undertaken residencies and projects in various institutions, including museums, botanic gardens, libraries, schools, colleges, and universities. She has also facilitated workshops in care homes, libraries, and with mixed ability and special needs groups. Her workshops vary in level and timescale from beginner to undergraduate.

Jacky's pieces are thought-provoking and well-considered, demonstrating her high technical skills. She enjoys bringing together a selection of research to create artifacts that stimulate viewers to consider and reflect on the piece on multiple levels. Each project is unique, and the final outcome is always determined by the journey of exploration. Jacky works in a reactive way, allowing ideas to be fluid until all avenues have been explored, using model-making and workshop development to aid the creative process.
