Cuttlefish casting with pewter

An exciting opportunity to introduce learners to the possibilities of metal .

Suitable for all age groups from Year 1 to 6th Form.

Jacky will come along to your school, bringing all the equipment and materials, to allow the group to go through the process of carving a mould out of a cuttlefish bone and then they will get the opportunity to melt the pewter with a gas torch.

A full day ( 6 hour) session will give pupils the opportunity to engage with the process, Sessions can be adapted to various class sizes, groups of up to 15 pupils can b worked with at a time.

Ideally the session should take place in a well ventiallated room or a covered outdoor space.

All materials, tools and safety equipment are supplied. Due to the change in prices of materials in the current climate, a cost for this can be discussed prior to booking.

Jacky is keen to share her love of metal with as many young people as possible, the sessions can be adapted, to offer more experimental approaches, using more material, or to keep the pieces created on a smaller scale to fit within a budget
