Cuttlefish casting with pewter

An exciting opportunity to introduce learners to the possibilities of metal .
Suitable for all age groups from Year 1 to 6th Form.
 
Jacky will come along to your school, bringing all the equipment and materials, to allow the group to go through the process of carving a mould out of a cuttlefish bone and then they will get the opportunity to melt the pewter with a gas torch.
 
A half day (3 hour) session will be enough time for a full class to engage fully with the process, 
Ideally the session should take place in a well ventiallated room or a covered outdoor space.
 
Classes of up to 30 can be accomodated, although the group will be split in  half with another activity provided but will need supervision.
