Cuttlefish Casting workshop
This is Jacky's most popular workshop.
Jacky is keen to work with others and share her love of working with metal. Jacky has delivered this workshop in Museums, schools( Maninstream SEN and SEHM pupils, for Arts and Demetia groups, Men in Sheds and women's groups. She has also led sessions at the Crafts Council, both for staff and teachers. National Saturday Art Club, the Somerset Rural Life Museum, and art galleries, as well as in colleges and universities. She also offers small group workshops in her own workshop in Cockpit Bloomsbury.
Jacky will bring the cuttlefish bones, pewter and all the tools required to carve into the cuttle fish and then melt and pour the pewter. These session have been enjoyed by participants of all ages, from Primary school pupils to family groups and adults. Working in wire workshops
Working to a range of briefs, Jacky has led wire workshops in Museums, galleries, schools, community centres, with Arts for Dementia groups, in universities and in a prison.
Jacky can offer sessions to introdcue complete beginners to the joys of working with wire, through to one to one sessions to offer more individual support, through to tailor made sessions helping professional artists prepare for exhibitions in galleries.
For more general workshops Jacky will Introduce participants to the qualities that are characteristic of different metals, steel, copper, brass and alumium. Jacky allows everyone to find their own way of working, translating drawings or research material into liner interpretations, taking ideas from 2D to 3D in easy stages. Allowing creative opportunities to help the work to develop. Depending on the size of the group and the setting, participants can either explore different ways of manually joining the wire, or with smaller groups soldering can be part of the learning process and in One to one workshops micro arc welding can offer different approach to bringing the wires together.

Jacky Is able to offer workshops to all levels of participants, having taught on Foundation and undergraduate courses for more than two decades, she loves sharing her knowledge both in metalwork, but also in developing ideas creatively.
She works with individuals and groups offering talks, mentoring, one to one and small group workshops. These can be one off workshops or part of a series.
She worked with Arts for Demetia, delivering 10 workshops ranging from working in wire, drawing in clay, and casting in plaster, book making, rubber stamp making, whilst with another group she did a cuttlefish casting workshop over two days.
With the ShiftEd charity that empowers children and young people through design and making, building creativity, skills, confidence and pathways into future opportunities, Jacky worked with primary and secondary school pupils to give them an introduction to different ways of working with metal. The group worked with wire, learnt letter stamping, etching, soldering, made rings and raised copper dishes.
